Right Eye Twitching Causes
It is very common to see people complain of eye twitching and eye spasms. Either the upper eyelid or the lower eyelid is involved in the twitching. The twitches come and go in less than a moment. However, if right eye is twitching continuously then it may be a sign of an eye problem. The eye twitching can continue to a few hours, days and sometimes even weeks. The lower eyelid twitching is known as myokymia in medical terms. Let is see what does right eye twitching indicate according to medical science.
Strain
One of the most common causes of right eye twitches is eye strain. Eyes muscles may strain due to working too hard for a long time. This means starring the computer screen, watching TV, reading in dim light, etc can lead to eye strain. In cases many individual, changes in eyesight may lead to eye strain as it has to try hard to focus on objects. Thus, one may need to get them checked and wear glasses to correct their vision.
NOT THIS!! I had my fabulous nap this afternoon. First time I have my nap after uni started. Although my nap got disturbed once in a while due to the loud singing from Bruce Hall and some messages alert, NAP WAS GOOD. JUST A BIT TOO LONG TO BE CALLED AS 40 WINKS!! =)
Stress
In today's hectic lifestyle, everyone feels stressed out. The body sends different signals to show it is under a lot of stress. One of the signs of stress includes eye twitching. If you do not give your eye muscles rest and strain them continuously, it causes involuntary twitching of the eyelid muscles.
STRESS??!! Probably yes, probably no!! Yes because I need to hand in two assignments next week, where my group members for one of the assignments have yet finish their part. Oh wells, at least I am done with my part after multiple edits and visits to the lecturer's office. I am still working on my other assignments thou. No because it's Thursday and the week is coming to an end... as if weekend means something to me!! =P
Weekends is really just weekend by its name. Similarly, teaching break is just teaching break for lecturers, not for students. So, weekends is nothing different from weekdays. Only difference is I can wear my pyjamas for the rest of the day and hide in my room. =)
Lack of Sleep
When one does not get enough sleep, the eyes get tired. This tiredness triggers eye spasms that leads to twitches. Therefore, it is important you sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours at night and catch 40 winks during the day, if possible. This will give your eyes some rest and avoid twitches.
Bingo, lack of sleep. This morning I had to wake up as early as 6am because I volunteered in the Science and Engineering Program which was supposed to start at 7am. Nobody arrived until 7.30am. =(
Suku suku wait in the Sports Hall for half and hour. Grrrrggghhh....
Despite the wrong notice of starting time for this morning, I enjoyed the activities I involved in - students have to send some secret coding through optic fibre cable and their partners have to solve the mistery given. So exciting right??!!
Dry Eyes
Aging leads to an eye condition called dry eyes. Also, people who work all day long on computers too tend to suffer from dry eyes. Excessive alcohol consumption, use of antihistamine and antidepressant medications also causes dry eyes. This condition may cause eye twitches. You need to speak to an ophthalmologist for treatment of dry eyes right away.
Dry Eyes...?? Dono ler... Maybe... before I had my nap, Maybe not... after I had my nap
Gosh, it is twitching again!!
Excessive Caffeine
Drinking excessive caffeine in the blood can trigger eye spasms and twitches. Avoid drinking a lot of tea, coffee, soda and alcohol to avoid eye twitches.
NOooo... coffee... Maybe lemonade that I had during lunch? I dono!! =(
Many times anxiety, phobias, neurological disorders and injuries and emotional stress can cause the eye to twitch. A warm compress and gentle eye message will help get rid of the twitches. Take rest to relax tired eyes and check your eyesight in case of vision problems. Artificial tears may helps cure dry eyes to some extent. If one suffers from right eye twitching continuously, the doctor may recommend Botox injections as a cure.
One may tend to considered right eye twitching superstitions as funny or having entertainment value. But the fact remains that, if you suffer from continuous eye twitches, get serious and speak to an ophthalmologist. You may have an eye problem or neurological disorder that needs treatment. Hope, you have found answers related to your problems from the above paragraphs.
So, what do you think that cause my right eye to twitch for the whole day?
