Yes, yes, i did it. I went to Jess's 21st birthday in Rydges Lakeside. This was my first ever 21st birthday party in Canberra, Australia. I enjoyed the night although I barely know people that were there, except for the birthday girl and her buddy, Ellen.
As Jess told me she wanted flowers for her birthday, there she goes with flowers as her birthday present. =) I thought I might buy a variety of flowers in a bouquet because I will never get wrong this way. She may not like sunflower, but there are roses in the bouquet too!! Just to be on the safe side!! I always play safe.
Reasons to buy you those flowers:
For me, your unique character to provide me energy to move on mirrors the sun providing heat and light for human to live on. Therefore, i bought you sunflower which for me is the happiest of flowers. Roses show how much I treasure you as a friend and heaps of love from me!! By including long lasting Camellia flowers in the bouquet, I appreciate all the precious time we spent together and those silly conversation we had.
Do you like those flowers, Jess?
Did you realize there are no white coloured flowers in the bouquet?
So, I bought another bunch of white chrysanthemum just to make it more colourful.
Nobody ever buys me flowers. So, I pretend those are mine for 1 minute before giving them to Jess. LOL
I asked around BnG for ribbons to tie the flowers, but nobody seems to have it. I thought I would go to IGA to try my luck, but too bad IGA does not sell any ribbons. So, I went further down and tried a few stores to civic. None of the shops sell ribbons and most of the shops were closed by the time I reached civic. This is Australia, shops closed in the evening. The last hope would be Superbarn, and I finally found ribbons that I was looking for there. Long journey for me to look for a ribbon. =P
Worst part of the day came when the sky decided to secrete tears to nourish the earth. OMG, I had to hold flowers in one hand and umbrella on the other. When wind and rain combine their power, that's the end of me in my dry clothings. When I was walking to Rydges, people in the car was looking at me, thinking I must be a fool, walking in the rain with flowers. I was drenched when I reached Jess's party. I lost my bracelet too!! My first time attending a birthday party wasn't that fortuitous after all!!
Yepppiiieee.... I finally reach Rydges. Jess's birthday party was on the 15th floor.
There was a sign in the lobby. I doubt there would be two Jess's birthday happening on the same day at the same place. So, I went all the way to the 15th floow without even asking the receptionists. =)
Nice view from the top of the hotel.
Jess reading her special birthday card!!
Sorry, the menu is a bit blur, but trust me, food was good. At least I changed from a pregnant 3 months lady to a 5 months lady after the dinner.
Self service buffet. Eat as much as you can!! =)
I was so full after the dinner because I kept eating since I have nothing to do there. I knew nobody in the birthday party and everyone was busy talking to each other because I assume most of them are high school or college friends. Ermm... Actually I am an outsider. =) Thanks Ellen for babysitting me!!
See what I mean when I say everyone was busy entertaining each other except for me, I was busy entertaining FOOD!!
I love the desserts. There were YUMMYLICIOUS!!
Priscilla happily with her panna cotta.
I wanted a single shot of the birthday girl but she wants me to take with her.
"There is my camera, Say CHEESSEEEE"
Happy Birthday, Jess!!
She had a tough time looking for her birthday dress which could satisfy herself and her mum's will!!
Jess, You look awesome in that dress!!
Mother and daugther
I think those are thank you gifts for guest, but I did not take any.
Jess's lovely chocolcate birthday cake.
Sorry, Jess, I did not have my 21st birthday cake. Can I pretend that's mine?
I don't know her, but she was so cute. She placed decorative sequins on her face and it looks like she is crying.
It's our time to play with sequins
Time for birthday speech
Jess's dad.
It was quite a touching speech by Jess's dad about a lot of Jess's first time. Jess's first word was daddy, Jess's first step, Jess's first day in school, Jess's first concert experience, etc... I wonder if my dad knows and remember about all these. He was so proud of having Jess as daughter and I can feel the love in the air.
Jess and her boyfriend, Ryan.
Opppsss.. censored scene.
Speech by all her good friends
Time to sing Happy Birthday song and cut the cake ceremony.
Bottom's up
The cake was hard, so Jess struggled to cut the cake.
Time for photos to keep for memories:
Best buddies
Sweet couples
Things we did in the toilet:
Time to start shaking your body and swing your arms high in the air:
